Patrolman Abrams was shot and killed when he and his partner responded to a domestic disturbance involving an uncle and nephew. The nephew was able to disarm Patrolman Abrams' partner and then shot Patrolman Abrams in the chest, killing him.
Patrolman Abrams had served with the agency for 19 months. He was survived by his wife, six daughters, and three sons.
