Certification Exam Results for Class 74

I'd like to congratulate all of the officers who were in class 74.  They all successfully passed their state certification exam.

Correctional Academy Class Session 74 Week 4

In spite of all of the wet weather during the entire week, everyone successfully completed their 40 hour mandatory firearms training. 

Week 3 of Correctional Academy Session 74

The officers completed their 3rd week of training.  The subjects covered during their 3rd week included the following:  Booking, Detention Area Safety & Security, Fingerprinting, Professional Integrity, Gang Identification, 1st Aid & CPR, Fire Fighting, Cultural Differences, and Use of Force. 

The officers used air packs to go into a smoke filled trailer trying to find an object.  This was to simulate a smoke filled cellblock.  

Week 2 of Correctional Academy Class 74

The officers of class 74 successfully completed their 2nd week of training.  The areas that were covered during this week included the following:  Crime Scene, Drug Identification, Hidden Weapons, Law, Report Writing, O.C. Spray Certification, Emergency Procedures, Legal Liabilities, Detainee Transport, Detainee Rights & Privileges, and Searches.

Correctional Academy Class #74

The 74th session of the St. Clair County Correctional Academy began on Monday, October 5th.  The class consists of 9 officers from the following counties:  Ford, Jackson, Jersey, Richland, St. Clair, and Tri (Pulaski).  The officers elected Mike (Heath) Barone from Jackson County as their class president. 

The areas that were covered during their first week of class consisted of Illinois County Jail Standards, Communications, Courtroom Testimony, Crime Scenes, Mental Health, Medical, HIV, Emergency Procedures, Taser Certification, Visiting, Food Service, Head Counts, and Programs & Services.

Week 5 of Correctional Academy Session #73

The officers participated in legal liabilities and defensive tactics for the week.  They were certified in baton, defensive counter strikes, joint lock controls, pressure points, tactical handcuffing, and weapon retention.

The awards for class 73 were as follows:

1st in Academic - Brett Upchurch of Saline County

2nd in Academics - Brian Curran of Adams County

1st in Firearms - Joshua Sayer of Jackson County

2nd in Firearms - Hollie Harrel of Tri County

Illinois Sheriff's Association Award - Shane Collins of St. Clair County

Week 4 for Corrections Academy 73

All of the officers successfully completed their forty hour mandatory firearms training during their fourth week of the academy.

Week 3 for Corrections Academy 73

The subjects that were covered duing the third week of the academy included the following: 

First Aid/CPR, Fire Training, Law for Corrections, Cultural Differences, Detainee Rights and Privileges, Epilepsy, Headcounts, Programs and Services, Visiting, Food Service, Communications, Fingerprinting, and Use of Force.

Week 2 of Corrections Academy Class 73

During their second week of training, the officers participated in the following courses:  Professional Integrity, Detainee Transports, Juvenile Information, O.C. Spray Certification, Booking, Drug Identification, Biological Threats in Corrections, Medical Services, Gang Identification, and Searches (see photos to the right).
